Recruitment Fall 2010

ServiceThe Illinois Iota Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi sets the standard of Greek life at Northern Illinois University. We set the standard as volunteers, scholars, gentlemen, and leaders. Phi Psi at NIU is committed to transcending Greek stereotypes because we each came to Phi Psi looking for something better than the status quo.

In 2010, Phi Kappa Psi at NIU proved that we are a standout Fraternity that is successful in all aspects of Greek life. We won 2nd place in the annual Greek philanthropy known as “Anchorsplash.” We also won 2nd place in the annual "Tugs"competition, which is a popular competition between all the Greeks at NIU. We also achieved a cumulative chapter grades just under a 3.0 GPA and participated in over 1,000 hours of community service just last semester.

We are able to do all these things through our brotherhood. We are committed to developing the leaders. At Phi Psi, it's more than being a part of something; it's about being THE leaders at NIU.

How will I make time for school and Fraternity life?
Being in a Fraternity teaches you to develop time management skills. You will learn to prioritize your days and tasks through our Fraternity Education program to achieve more with limited time constraints.

What makes Phi Psi different than the stereotypical fraternities?
We strive to have the most service hours, highest GPA, and be leaders in other organizations like the Student Association. We like to participate in all aspect of Greek life including, Homecoming, Sings, NIU Cares Day, Relay for Life, intramurals, and Tugs.

If I join, will I get hazed?
No, absolutely not. Phi Kappa Psi is strictly against hazing in all forms.

Will I be forced to drink alcohol?
We do not force members to drink and currently have active members that do not drink alcohol.

I’m not the “Fraternity type”
Phi Psi is proud of its reputation as “gentlemen.” We are respectful to all women on campus, we work hard as leaders at NIU, and we focus on earning our degrees.
